Blue Peach Introduces Enterprise Class CIFS/SMB Network File Sharing Stack
This release has significant new features that clearly set it apart from all competitors and alternatives. Release 3.2 has been designed to support enterprise class features in a small footprint appropriate for embedded products. These new features include extended security, access control, and protected mode or multi-process support. These features allow Blue Share to be a solution for value added network file sharing as well as file sharing for embedded platforms. Blue Share can be configured to run in 'real-mode' or 'protected-mode'. In real-mode, Blue Share runs in the same address space as all applications. This is appropriate for many real-time embedded RTOSes. In protected-mode, Blue Share runs as a collection of separate processes and dynamic link libraries. This allows separate processes to access services of the Blue Share stack without linking directly to the CIFS protocol engine. All interfaces are provided through a dynamic library. Protected mode also enables the server toadhere to the access control policies of the server OS for the authenticated users. Extended security allows Blue Share to authenticate with credentials using secure communications. This allows Blue Share to access files shared within Windows Domains and to authenticate securely, without sending plaintext passwords.
